Expert Advice: New York Essentials
Paired Perfectly
In our style column, blogger Anthony Urbano of Oh, Anthonio pairs up the Britton Hill Mixed-Media Moc Toe Boots and Mt. Davis Timeless Waxed Canvas Jacket.
If there’s one thing I love most about working on my menswear and personal style blog, Oh Anthonio, it’s definitely getting to be a part of New York Fashion Week. The energy and excitement that surrounds the shows is similar to that feeling you get when you attend a concert for your favorite musician. It’s invigorating, and now even more so for the menswear scene which is in the second season of its own dedicated fashion week.
Amidst the busy hustle of shuffling to and from runway shows, I was happy to find some time to recharge at Timberland’s Style Suite. As a brand that’s become known and respected as a brand for the outdoors, it made perfect sense for them to host a style suite that offered some relief from the cold, rainy weather during fashion week.
Aside from food, charging stations, shoe shines, and grooming touch-ups, I also got to take a peek at the new spring 2016 footwear and apparel collection. Luckily for me, I was able to pick up two new pieces to upgrade the rest of my NYFW.
This Mount Davis Timeless Waxed Canvas Jacket I selected is definitely going to be a staple piece in my wardrobe. Not only is the waxed canvas material weather-ready with a durable and textured feel, but it also makes a great transitional piece. Layer it under a wool topcoat during colder months, or wear it simply by itself as a light, vibrant jacket in the spring.
Up next: the Britton Hill Mixed-Media Moc Toe Boots in black. The mashup of the leather, and again, the waxed canvas was what really made this boot stand out to me. It’s that contrast of rugged and refined that works really well with my fashion-focused urban lifestyle that I love the most about these boots. Whether I’m jumping over puddles during fashion week or exploring new territory on my travels, these boots are helping me blaze my own stylish Modern Trail.
Anthony has it right when it comes to waxed canvas – it’s the new fabric your wardrobe is missing. Here’s why we like it so much.
