Urban Greening Comes to Philly

Timberland | Urban Greening: The Philadelphia Rail Park

On October 13th, we are revealing one of our best collabs yet. As part of our initiative of greening 5 cities in 5 years, we’re collaborating with the Center City District Foundation of Philadelphia to transform an abandoned rail road bed into a beautiful, lush green space!

On October 13th, we are revealing one of our best collabs yet. We’re headed to the City of Brotherly Love, part of our initiative of greening 5 cities in 5 years. Last year we kicked it off by transforming the United We Stand garden in South Bronx, New York. This year, we’re partnering with the Center City District Foundation to work on the The Rail Park project.

The Reading Viaduct in Philadelphia is in the process of undergoing a huge transformation. Abandoned since the 1970s, the mostly elevated tracks have been in a state of neglect for decades. That’s why we’re teaming up with the Center City District Foundation to help transform this space into a park by planting trees, shrubs, and more. It’s a project that is always evolving and still needs plenty of support, and we’re honored to play a small role in making it happen.

Timberland volunteers will be pulling on their boots to green one of America’s greatest cities, and we can’t wait to see it when it opens in Spring 2018! To learn more about the Rail Park project and what you can do to help, visit www.supportccdf.org/railpark.
