HOW TO CLEAN YOUR LEATHER SANDALS?

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR LEATHER SANDALS?

Although they tend to be more durable than other sandals, leather sandals also show signs of wear more easily, so it’s important to keep them clean. You should clean your leather sandals by brushing away dried dirt with a brush, before using a damp cloth to gently wipe them down.

However, there are many other factors to consider when cleaning your leather sandals such as the size of the stain you are removing from your leather, as this will determine your cleaning method. In this article, we’ll look at some of the different ways you can wash your leather sandals to keep them looking fresh and clean.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY LEATHER SANDALS?

With the unique properties found in leather, you must take plenty of care when cleaning leather sandals and ensure that the cleaning process is not rushed. The most common method is to use a damp cloth, but there are also lots of products that help make the process easier.

There is an abundance of cleaning products on the market that have been designed specifically to help you clean your leather shoes. The Timberland Product Care Kit includes everything you need to clean your leather sandals and keep them in tip-top condition.

BRUSHING WITH A SOFT BRUSH

As mentioned earlier, using a soft brush to remove dried dirt is a good first step in cleaning your leather sandals when you need to give them a clean all over. Start by brushing the outside of your sandals, followed by the buckles, straps and inside of your shoes.

This method is particularly effective if you clean your leather sandals straight after walking around in loose ground such as sand, mud or dried dirt. Our Rubber Sole Brush effectively sweeps away dirt and dust from leather sandals, leaving them looking as good as new.

LIQUID CLEANER AND CLEANING BARS

If brushing isn’t enough, a liquid cleaner is the next step in cleaning your leather sandals. Add a few drops of cleaner to a soft cloth before gently rubbing your sandal clean. Remove the cleaner by rubbing with a soft damp cloth and leave to air dry.

Cleaning bars are also a good option for cleaning your leather sandals. Use our Dry Cleaning Kit to gently remove spots and stains by rubbing the cleaning bar back and forth in several directions. If the stains are more stubborn, you can dampen the edge of the bar and rub the stained area before leaving to dry. If water stains appear, rub your sandal with the dry end of the bar to remove.

HOW TO CLEAN LEATHER FLIP FLOPS?

You can clean your leather flip flops in the same way as you would with more traditional sandals as they are made from the same material. Without buckles and design features, flip flops are slightly easier to clean.
