TIMBERLAND OPENS NEW RETAIL STORE IN SKOKIE, IL ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 19

PREMIUM OUTDOOR BRAND BRINGS NEW ENGAND HERITAGE TO CHICAGO'S NW SUBURBS

STRATHAM, NH - August 2, 2011 - The Timberland Company today announced details about its newest retail location, at Westfield Old Orchard, 4999 Old Orchard Center, Skokie, IL. Doors open at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 19, giving Chicagoans expanded and direct access to the brand's authentic outdoor heritage and industry-leading approach to sustainability.

In step with Timberland® stores around the world, the new 2,300 sq. foot space is designed to reflect the company's long-standing commitment to sustainability, through the use of recycled materials and other eco-conscious building practices. Build-out features include reclaimed wood and industrial machinery (used for table bases); recycled stoneware floor tiles; FSC certified woods; reduced-wattage LED lighting; Energy Star-eligible equipment and
appliances; low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints; and water-conserving plumbing fixtures. The space also features a unique, custom mural celebrating "green spaces" throughout the Chicago area.

The new Westfield Old Orchard location will offer outdoor apparel, accessories and footwear for men and women, including the brand's popular Earthkeepers® collection of shoes and boots made from eco-conscious materials. Shoppers will also have access to the latest outdoor performance footwear and elite collections, including the Timberland Boot Company® Collection (for men and women) and the Abington Collection (for men).
The Westfield Old Orchard store joins the brand's Aurora, IL Timberland® factory outlet in the region, and is an important part of Timberland's 2011 retail expansion, which to date has included new stores in Boston (March), San Francisco (April), New York City / Herald Square (May) and North Conway, NH (June).
